4 Food-Baby Friendly Holiday Outfits

The holidays are a wonderful time filled with family, friends and most of all, FOOD. It’s easy to overindulge during holiday meals when you have turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, stuffing, rolls, cranberry sauce and 3 different kinds of pie (because you have to try them all, right?) to choose from.

And then, the dreaded family pictures occur. If you’re like me, the last thing you want to do after you’ve consumed a full meal is take a picture. Fear not! These 4 outfits are tried and true and will cover up your growing food-baby so that you can snap a few photos with the family and then pass out from all that tryptophan.

  1. A Baggy Sweater Dress

Not only is this option super comfy, it’s also flattering on most body shapes. Sweater dresses with a nice cowl neck are great because they draw attention to the neckline and not the midsection. Pair a sweater dress with leggings and riding boots and you’ll be camera ready AND comfy!

  1. Leggings and a Peplum Top

Peplum tops are amazing because they flare out right above the tummy area that most of us would like to cover up. Peplum tops come in a variety of styles, fabrics and sleeve lengths, making them incredibly versatile. For Thanksgiving, a peplum sweater like the one below would be cozy and weather appropriate while still flattering. Throw on your favorite pair of leggings and some cute flats and you’re good to go!

  1. High-Waisted Skirt and Top

Holiday Plaid Skirt

High-waisted anything is great for extra control in the midsection, so a skirt like the one below is perfect for Thanksgiving. Go for a skirt with an elastic waistband for optimum comfort and fit. As for color or pattern, plaid is definitely in for this holiday season and there are tons of cute plaid skirts out right now. Pair your skirt with tights and a turtleneck if you’ll be somewhere chilly or a 3-quarter length sleeve top if not. Adding a statement necklace will give this outfit some extra pizazz!

  1. Poncho with Leggings or Jeans

Ponchos have recently made a comeback in a big way! Some people are really turned off by the thought of ponchos, but with the right accessories they can be trendy and comfortable all at once. One of the best ways to style a poncho is with a turtleneck, leggings and over-the-knee boots. Depending on the how dressy you want to be, you can easily swap out leggings for jeans and boots for high heels to dress the poncho up or down. Adding some sparkly baubles to the mix will make the outfit and have you looking runway ready while feeling like you’re wearing a big, comfy blanket!
